Description

A rare Dutch tobacco box with the domestic scenes in brass inlaid into the copper base, a rare technique for these. The box has domestic scenes on both sides and they depict a man recline in his chair and being fanned by a young lady with a couple looking on, the other side the man seems to be visited by angels as the couple dance around a column,
A really charming box, there are inscriptions on both sides telling the story in Dutch, and the dates 1757.

Very good overall with obvious marks of age.
