Description

Emil Orlík (b.1870 Prague - d. 1932 Berlin) a limited edition folio of 11 signed lithographs Erinnerung au Hiddensoe (Remembrance of Hiddensoe), the title page dated 1919 and 1920 in facsimile calligraphy, numbered and signed by the artist in pen verso 35/35, a calligraphic poem precedes the works, Mondscheinlerche (Moonlight Lark, dated 1885) before six lithographs after various figural studies to include reclining young women and five after landscape studies in charcoal and various colours of pencil, all signed in pencil by the artist, 38 x 53 cm, together with an etching on paper by Orlík, portrait of the renowned German conductor Wilhem Furtwangler, 24 x 17 cm, a German lino-cut in the Japanese taste depicting figures meeting beneath trees in a 'spiritual garden' with scripted borders, 25 cm x 60 cm and an indistinctly signed watercolour landscape of rolling green hills, 19 x 29 cm, etc.1
